Redesigning FOX play for 1-million+ users across multiple devices.

Working in conjunction with the design and engineering teams at You.i TV and Fox, we redesigned Fox International’s in-market mobile and TV apps in order to improve engagement, increase signup, and re-imagine the experience for a user base over 1 million. As UX Motion Lead, I was responsible for thoroughly understanding the challenges of the project, exploring concepts, validating with end-users, and effectively communicating interactions to a large development team.

The Process

  1. Participating in multiple design workshops on the pre-existing in-market application to identify and create a plan for mitigating UX challenges.

  2. Collaborating with Interaction and Visual Designers to turn wireframes and prototypes into animated mockups and motion specs.

  3. Designing motion styles to scale easily across multiple platforms.

  4. Working with developers to translate design vision and user experience into the finished product.

The Design

We created a simple and sophisticated motion design system that scaled across platforms with guided user interaction throughout.

The Outcome

After 7 months of design and development, we launched 7 apps across multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Xbox, tvOS, and Amazon Fire.

Enhancing Live

Zapping between channels is made faster and simpler. Without leaving the player users can move to a different channel or quickly access the EPG. Creating a smooth transition from the lander’s autoplay to watching full screen. Live content is brought to the forefront by autoplaying the channel in focus after 2 seconds of inactivity.
